About the role:
An Assistant Design Manager will typically have several years’ experience and be working towards gaining a Professional Accreditation such as CPEng or becoming a Registered Architect. They will support more experienced Design Managers on larger or more complex projects and/or lead the design process on small scale projects. Assistant Design Managers are working to develop an exceptional understanding of the design process across all disciplines to assist them in managing discipline interfaces and the sequencing of design activities.
The Preformance Team is made up of professionals from diverse technical backgrounds. We use this diversity to collaboratively support each other in the delivery of our projects. In line with this approach, the Assistant Design Manager will be developing a strong capability in one technical discipline and be able to lead technical design reviews of consultant’s documents or support in resolving technical issues on projects.
As a pivotal member of the Pre-Construction team, the Assistant Design Manager must lead by example and positively contribute to the team, championing the Company’s ‘Inside the Box’ culture, leading delivery of projects in accordance with the Preformance Management Process. This will directly and indirectly be contributing towards day-to-delivery, competitive strategy and leading to technically and financially successful projects with net margin target achievement.
The role of Assistant Design Manager will also support Preformance Sustainability capability. As a key member in the sustainability team the Assistant Design Manager will work towards achieving a Homestar & Greenstar accreditation, with the goal of ultimately leading sustainability for projects and preparing Greenstar or Homestar submissions for Preformance & Southbase projects.
You will have:
Experience: 3-4 years in commercial or residential construction within a main contractor or Architectural company |
Degree Qualified in Architecture |
Competent at undertaking technical reviews of electrical designs prepared by sub-consultants |
Working towards gaining a Professional Qualification (Architectural Registration) is desirable |
BIM: Competent in the use of Revit. |
A strong understanding of project management principles – budget, scope, programme & stakeholder management |
Experience in delivering designs in accordance with an ISO9001 QA process |
Able to balance competing demands to achieve priorities |
Keen to be part of and contribute to a high performing team |
