Building for the Te Aratai College Community
Earthquake damage had sent Te Aratai College (formally Linwood College) on a long awaited journey for a state of the art school.
The redevelopment of Linwood College has come as a result of their demolition in 2019.
Te Aratai is part of the Greater Christchurch Education Renewal Property Programme. Having been located at three temporary sites, the arrival on the new school back on home turf was an important one to celebrate.
With community and stakeholder engagement underway, Southbase planned and constructed the build. This engagement helped shape the design process, and Southbase used BIM modeling to ensure we could celebrate the delivery of this project on time.
Our previous experience with the Ministry of Education helped place us in a good position to deliver the college for the important deadline.
Te Aratai College is a special place, having its name gifted by Ngāi Tūāhuriri, the translation is 'pathway to the sea.' Reflecting on the intention to open a wide realm of possibility for students and the local area. The value this new college brings for the students is equally as appreciated by the entire community.
This sophisticated development is one to be proud of for a long time. Southbase is honoured to have delivered such an important resource for generations to come.
